Anna Maria Island is only seven miles long, and you can easily reach any of the three cities thanks to the free island trolley. There are plenty of trolley stops throughout the city of Holmes Beach as well as nearby our Holmes Beach rentals, so you can hop on board anytime you please! Holmes Beach provides something for every interest, so your whole family will find something to enjoy. You can explore the three miles of sandy beaches and easily get to any attraction you may desire. This city has 5,000 residents, both permanent and seasonal, making it the largest community on Anna Maria Island. While the history of Holmes Beach may be rather short, you’ll find plenty of personality along the streets. However, the area did not receive its current name until after World War II when a developer by the name of Holmes arrived and created the 600-acre community that we call Holmes Beach today.
Holmes Beach was first homesteaded in 1896 by Sam and Anna Cobb. Holmes Beach is located right in the middle of Anna Maria Island, with the City of Anna Maria to the north and Bradenton Beach to the south.
